The Pug Club of Finland was established in
1964, quite soon after the first pugs were imported into Finland. The club
has nowadays almost 800 members all over the country.
The PCF is a national breed association affiliated to The Finnish Kennel
Club. The task of the breed association is in all means to promote the
breeding of pugs, inform and counsel breeders and pug owners, make pugs
known, and keep contact to other dog associations.
The breeding committee of the PCF handles
breeding questions and problems, maintains records of registered pugs and
stud dogs, gives recommendations about proper breeding principles and
breeding combinations. The committee also participates in training and
qualification of judge candidates.
The PCF maintains a special puppy service, which
supplies information about pug puppies for sale. The PCF organizes
annually a dog show specially for pugs. This show has become the biggest
single review of pugs in Finland, there are over 100 participants at its
best. Invited judge comes often from Great Britain, Central Europe or
Scandinavia, naturally also Finnish judges are invited.
The PCF organizes every summer a happy meeting
for all pugowners. It also publishes its own magazine, 'Mopsi', four times
a year. Mopsi-magazine contains all the dog show results with complete
written notices, lists of registered pugs and champions, plenty of
pictures about Finnish pugs, advertisements of breeders and stud dog
-owners, and of course writings about pugs and dogs in general. The
Chief-Editor of the Mopsi-magazine is mister
Jerry Aunola.
